North Dean Wood 08-12-12

Before Oliver and I went to the school Christmas fayre, we accompanied Steve Blacksmith on a trip to North Dean Wood in Copley. Oliver is a master identifying species of fungi due to his attention to detail and photographic memory, one the benefits of his Asperger syndrome. We were all stood looking at the Scutellinia scutellata, thinking to ourselves - what is it?, when Oliver came over to look at it and said in a matter of fact way "Common Eyelash" and guess what he was right!

Common Eyelash (Scutellinia scutellata).

Scarlet Elfcup (Sarcoscypha Austriaca).

 Beech Jellydisc (Neobulgaria pura).

Witches' Butter (Exidia glandulosa).

Dead Man's Fingers (Xylaria polymorpha), identified by Oliver.
